Company Introduction

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our client in the Telecommunication industry as a DevOps Engineer. This role is based in their Reading office 2 times a week.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

1. You will lead on reviewing what consolidation and rationalisation opportunities are available in this area and will lead on efforts to deliver against these proposals
2. You will design and implement NMS to support the RAN, transport or Core Network evolution, including upgrades to existing NMS and migration projects between old and new NMS.
3. You'll lead on delivery FCAPS functionality and in ensuring systems align to security principles.
4. You'll work closely with vendor teams on NMS offerings and Features and adapt them as needed in our business.
5. You'll conduct design considering operational requirements teams whilst also supporting NMS operationally from a 2nd line perspective and liaising with 3rd line vendor support to resolve S/W bugs.
6. Undertake life cycle management activities for NMS including hardware, software, capacity and capability and operational support.
7. Support the set up and configure monitoring and alerting systems to identify and resolve issues in the NMS environment proactively.
8. Collaborate with Platform owners, Tech Leads, other DevOps engineers, and senior Innovation leaders to strike a balance between engineering priorities and platform objectives.
9. Become and advocate of using CI/CD and automated testing driving our vendors to use standard approaches and delivery tools.
10. Leverage modern technologies as appropriate to get the most value out of existing NMS platform offerings and deliver additional value in the highest-priority areas.
11. Leverage agile principles to enable collaboration and innovation in the team and with stakeholders outside the team.

13. Providing challenges, ideas, and critique to the Platform owner for the services offered from the DevOps platform.
14. Collaborate with security teams to implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
15. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in NMS capabilities and infrastructure to ensure optimal system performance.
16. Work closely with network engineers, software developers, and IT operations teams to ensure seamless integration of NMS into our network environment.
17. Maintain comprehensive documentation of NMS infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.

Required Skills/Experience

1. Good understanding of cloud technologies, security, and privacy principles.
2. Expert level technical understanding of Network Management Systems, general OSS, BSS as well as technologies including 2G, 3G, 4G, IMS and EPC.
3. Experience of managing network management functions - within physical and over cloud ecosystems, with understanding of security, and privacy principles
4. Hands-on working experience of Ericsson Network Management and Nokia EMS systems.
5. Proven experience in either a design or operations NMS related role, extremely beneficial to have skills in both areas.
6. Own to deliver thorough understanding of the user requirements, capability gaps and exploitation opportunities for the given Operations Support systems and do the developments accordingly.
7. Self-organizing and ability to pick up the task independently and deliver with minimal guidance around NMS area.
8. Proven experience in either a design operations NMS related role, extremely beneficial to have skills in both areas
9. Comfortable working as part of team, often with remote team members.
10. Working knowledge of Lean and Agile methodologies.
11. Experience of similar role(s) within a complex Telco or IT environment - we are open to sectors, but you must have proven success working within a complex Matrix
12. Experience of using Confluence, Jira and worked across related tools.
13. Experience of implementing CI/CD/CT pipelines, with a focus on building shared services across DevOps platforms in a secure fashion.
